Multimedia Storytelling

Good Things Come in Threes

The objective of this project is to tell a story in three panels that includes a Setup, Conflict and Resolution using visuals and a minimum of text.

Rolling…ACTION:

An exploration of colour, intensity and rhythm in cinema.

I used Adobe Premiere Pro to produce a short film from a succession of still photographs that lasted no more than 1 minute. The photos were gathered from a royalty-free source. To build suspense, I used colour intensity, rhythm, and pace in my video. Then, in a decreasing sequence of intensity, I put these photos on the film timeline. I lowered the duration of each consecutive clip as I moved from left to right on the video timeline, until the pictures at the conclusion had a very limited time on screen, enhancing the visual rhythm. In this sense, intensity and rhythm are reciprocal or going in opposite directions—intensity drops while rhythm rises.

Thematic Video Montage: Modulating Intimacy and Intensity.

The goal of this project is to edit thematically connected video clips with a variety of shot kinds, cut types, durations, and transitions to change the intensity and degree of intimacy in the final piece. My theme “A Romantic Getaway.” This theme was inspired by the beautiful Mountains of Whistler and how romantic it is to go skiing there with your partner.

Aural Soundscape

Layering music and sound to add mood and depth to the video.

The goal of this project is to layer sounds and music onto my video from the previous Colour, Intensity & Rhythm video project to create an emotional ambience that connects in a meaningful and consistent way with the imagery presented in that video using Adobe Premiere Pro.

THE INTERVIEW: Capturing Action & Reaction.

The objective of this project is to write a script for a short play, in this footage, both characters played by the same person are placed in the same scene at the same time using a technique called “masking.”
